About the Cracks

Each bowl in the collection is either significantly cracked or has a large missing piece. The holes are woven closed with waxed twine. The repaired bowls are symbolic of the wounds incured in combat and mended by medical treatment. Much like the people who have experienced hardship, what gives these bowls their special beauty is the trauma and repair they have undergone.
